How we got here
Calfee Middle School, the district’s third middle school, is set to open in August. Elementary School No. 7 is scheduled for 2026, the district states on its website. These two schools are part of the 2022 bond for $143 million. Community Impact previously reported Calfee Middle School will be located at 7373 Longmire Road, Conroe.
In January, demographers Population and Survey Analysts presented WISD with an updated demographic report showing new housing projects, student enrollment projections and new school needs.
At the Jan. 25 town hall, parents were able to voice their concerns and desires for the resources at the new middle school, as previously reported by Community Impact.
“The integration of new schools and the impact on existing feeder patterns and transportation routes are significant points of discretion,” Superintendent Kimberly James said at the town hall. “I definitely am seeing that, and ... we're working on [transportation].”
What parents should know
Following the Jan. 25 town hall, a survey was sent to the community to vote on which attendance zone option was better.
A survey with two attendance boundary options was sent to parents and the community for a vote. Option A received 770 votes, or 55%, while Option B received 628 votes, 44.9%, according to the district website.
What’s next
Calfee Middle School will open for the first day of school Aug. 12.
