Conroe ISD held a dedication ceremony for Janet K. Bartlett Elementary School on Oct. 29, according to an Oct. 29 news release.

The school is named after former Conroe teacher Janet K. Bartlett, who began her career in the school district in 1976. She was named the District Elementary Teacher of the Year in 1994, before retiring in 2006, according to the news release.

The event, held in the school cafeteria, celebrated the dedication of the district’s 71st campus, according to the news release. Several other namesakes were in attendance, along with Bartlett’s family, friends, former colleagues, the school’s students, and district staff and trustees.

During the dedication ceremony, State Representative Will Metcalf presented Principal Charita Smith with the Texas Flag that flew over the State Capitol Building on the first day of school, according to the news release.
