The Willis ISD board of trustees selected former Superintendent Tom Crowe to serve as interim superintendent during a July 18 special board meeting, the district announced. Crowe served as WISD superintendent from 1993-97.

In a nutshell

Tim Harkrider, who had served as superintendent since 2013, announced his departure from WISD in June, as he was named the superintendent of College Station ISD, Community Impact previously reported. During a special July 6 meeting, Sara Goolsby—WISD's assistant superintendent of innovation, teaching and learning—was named acting superintendent until an interim superintendent was chosen.

Crowe, who began his role as interim superintendent July 24, will serve in the role until a permanent superintendent is selected, according to the district's announcement. He previously served as Willis High School principal from 1989-91 before his time as superintendent.
