Willis ISD will hold remote learning for all its students from Aug. 12-Sept. 7, according to a video from Superintendent Tim Harkrider released July 21. Schools will reopen for students who have selected in-person instruction Sept. 8 unless a decision to extend remote learning has been made by Aug. 31.
The decision was made due to a letter from the Montgomery County Public Health District urging local districts to not bring students back to campuses in August due to the continued rise in coronavirus cases.
"If you ask for guidance, you can't ignore it if you don't like it," Harkrider said.
Information about technology access, meal distributions and other parent concerns can be found on the district's website.
