Gov. Greg Abbott announced March 16 he waived State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness testing requirements for the 2019-20 school year as the coronavirus outbreak forces schools to close.
Willis ISD Director of Communications Jamie Fails said the decision of the governor is correct for the current "unprecedented times."
"This will allow districts to focus on providing our students and families with access to critical elements of the education system such as child nutrition services and a continuation of learning for our students," Fails said.
Representatives from Conroe and Montgomery ISDs have not responded to requests for statements from Community Impact Newspaper.
