Cottage food is a style of business where an individual sells a product or good out of a residential home. Woods said opening a storefront will be more convenient for customers and bring in more opportunities.
"With the storefront and commercial kitchen we will be able to expand everything we do locally and be able to reach others with online sales," she said. "Montgomery is growing at a very fast pace, and currently there is not a full-service bakery for custom cakes, cookies and other baked goods."
Woods Cakery Bakery is a bakery that specializes in custom cakes and custom cookies along with all kinds of baked goods, including cinnamon rolls, macarons, standard cookies, cupcakes and pies.
"Owning and operating a commercial bakery has always been a lifelong dream of mine," Woods said. "I have always been passionate about custom cakes for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations. By opening a brick-and-mortar store, it will give me the opportunity to better serve the local community with baked goods along with the opportunity to share my skills with employees that want to learn how to make custom cakes and cookies."
