The Montgomery Planning and Zoning Commission approved exterior renovations to a historic home at its virtual meeting July 7.

Located at 504 Caroline St., Montgomery, the home has been purchased by Damon and Cindy Haynes. The Hayneses are opening a restaurant named Wings Over Montgomery just down the street at 14335 Liberty St., Montgomery; Cindy said they plan on using the lot for parking and that they will be renovating and updating the historic home.

The Hayneses said there had been several rumors across the city about what will be going on with the historic home.

“We do not plan to tear the house down. ... We do not plan to turn it into some other kind of business at this point,” Cindy said. “We have a few things we do want to do to bring it to life in the near future, at least from the exterior standpoint.”

Damon said he hopes to restore the interior to house historic artifacts from his family. The Hayneses said they are more focused on opening Wings Over Montgomery; that opening has been slowed due to the pandemic.

The commission also approved the addition of an outdoor seating deck for the restaurant. Damon said he already built the area but did not get approval for the deck.
