The annexation of 1,310 acres located north and south of FM 1484 and east of Wally Wilkerson Parkway was discussed at Conroe City Council’s March 23 workshop. The land would be used by developer DR Horton to build the Silverthorne residential subdivision with 3,321 lots ranging from 27-by-105 feet to 70-by-130 feet, Director of Community Development Nancy Mikeska said at the workshop.

Mikeska said 4 acres are set aside for a recreation center, 8 acres for parks, 2 acres for a fire station and 21 acres for future commercial development. Fifteen acres would be used for multifamily residences and 775 acres for single-family homes.

The discussion also addressed service agreements for the area, such as police, fire and garbage collection. Service agreements are unique to each annexation tract and are good for 10 years, according to the workshop presentation. Potential additional services include water and wastewater management, and maintenance of public streets and lighting.

Annexation will not change addresses, ZIP codes or school district boundaries.
