Montgomery County Commissioners Court met May 23 at 9:30 a.m. to consider several agenda items.

  1. Commissioners accepted a $100,000 grant for Veterans Treatment Court from the Texas Veterans Commission. The court serves veterans and active-duty personnel who suffer from mental illness, disorders and substance use due to military service, which was a contributing factor in their misdemeanor or felony criminal offenses.

  2. Commissioners approved the 2018 Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority grant application by the Montgomery County sheriff's office for $609,419 with a county match of $261,952.

  3. The court approved $1.4 million in inmate health care services funding for the Montgomery County Jail from leftover funds. The court also approved a request for proposal for inmate health services.

  4. Commissioners approved the purchase of a disaster relief vehicle for the Montgomery County sheriff's office through an interlocal agreement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Chastang Enterprises. The vehicle, which costs $114,968, will be funded by the 2016 UASI Special Response Capabilities grant.

  5. The court approved a $1.12 million contract for Smith & Company for a construction project repairing on Lone Star Parkway between Hwy. 105 and FM 149.

  6. The court approved the use of $100,000 for the Montgomery County district clerk to preserve archives from the 1800s to 1999. The $100,000 comes from a fund established by the court for these purposes.
