Apartments hosting free swim lessons for children
In an effort to avoid drowning accidents, the YMCA of Greater Houston's "Safety Around Water" program offers free swim lessons to children in 127 apartments around the Greater Houston area. Lessons run Monday through Friday and will cover concepts such as floating and the "Jump-Push- Turn-Grab," which teaches children to push off the bottom of the pool and return to the surface. According to the YMCA, lessons vary by location so interested families are encouraged to call their apartment complex directly.
