Katy ISD Katy ISD board of trustees President Bryan Michalsky and treasurer Charles Griffin will face challengers in the KISD board elections set for May 9. Challenger John Pendergraff will face incumbent Michalsky for the Position 6 seat, while challenger Leonard Ledford will face incumbent Griffin for the Position 7 seat.
The seven-member board holds annual elections on the second Saturday of each May. Each member serves a three-year term, and elections are held on a rotating basis with two or three positions on the ballot each year. The board is responsible for selecting the district's superintendent. The superintendent, in turn, advises the board on management issues within the district.
According to candidate campaign filings from KISD, all four candidates are KISD residents. Each candidate has appointed a campaign treasurer to oversee his respective campaign.
Both Michalsky and Griffin were elected to their positions in 2012, according to KISD board profiles.
