What we reported Local nonprofit Cy-Hope opened a new resale market, The Hope Chest, on Sept. 14. The shop accepts donated items, including clothing, books, working appliances, lawn equipment and tools. Proceeds help fund services provided by the nonprofit.

The latest Executive Director Lynda Zelenka said business has exceeded projections since opening. Furniture and home decor have The Hope Chestbeen top sellers, and the DIY and Repurpose Corner has been a big hit, she said.

What’s next Cy-Hope staffers are planning an anniversary celebration set for September. Both resale market and monetary donations will continue to support Cy-Fair students through various programs and financial assistance for scholarships.

Officials announced online that the store would expand into the second floor of the store on Feb. 14 with a children's department and party supply corner. The ladies department downstairs will also be expanded.
