Here are four road projects that are coming up or already under construction in the city of Bryan, according to city officials and capital improvement project information. This list is not comprehensive.
Upcoming projects
Leonard Road, Groesbeck Street widening
Project: The project will reconstruct Leonard Road and Groesbeck Street between Harvey Mitchell Parkway and the roundabout at Palasota Drive and Groesbeck Street to include wider concrete streets, drainage improvements, a sidewalk and a shared-use path to improve transportation infrastructure as development expands on the city’s west side.
Update: A public meeting on the project, which is in design, was held Feb. 19.

- Cost: $655,700 (design), $8.9 million (construction)
- Funding sources: city general fund, federal funds
Old Reliance Road widening
Project: This project will widen Old Reliance Road to four divided lanes between Austin's Colony Parkway east to the city limits.
Update: The city is obtaining land acquisitions for easements, and design is complete on the project that will also add a 10-foot shared-use path on one side of the road to provide bicycle and pedestrian access to Rudder High School.

- Cost: $9.8 million
- Funding sources: $4.6 million (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development), $5.2 million (fiscal year 2024 bonds)
Ongoing projects
Mumford Road widening Phase 1
Project: This project reconstructs and widens Mumford Road with a continuous center turn lane from FM 2818 to approximately 460 linear feet east of Carrier Lane.
Update: The project is under construction and 40% complete as of late February.
- Timeline: July 2025-August 2026
- Cost: $7.16 million
- Funding sources: 2024 bonds, grant funds, city of Bryan and Brazos County Economic Development Foundation interlocal agreement
Hardy Weedon Road upgrades
Project: Phase 1 of the project is 5% complete to add a traffic signal at Hardy Weedon Road and Hwy. 30 and reconstruct part of Hardy Weedon Road east of Hwy. 30.
Update: The project was split into two phases, the second phase of which includes extending the reconstruction east to the city limits at Reveille Estates at a later date.
