All northbound and southbound main lanes of I-69 from Loop 610 to South Rice Avenue will be totally closed starting at 9 p.m. Aug. 14, the Texas Department of Transportation announced.

Normal traffic flow will resume by 5 a.m. Aug. 17.

According to TxDOT, the closure will allow for crews to place bridge beams for a new I-610 north connector to I-69 south. The beams cross over the I-69 main lanes.

There will be additional closures during construction including other connectors, entrance and exit ramps, TxDOT said.

These and other area closures can be monitored at Houston Transtar.
