Officials with the West University area location of Waxing The City are hosting a backpack drive throughout the week of March 25 to support Childhelp, a nonprofit that helps victims of child abuse and neglect across the U.S.

The big picture

The drive's goals are to collect as many backpacks and other school supplies as possible, which will be distributed to children in kindergarten through grade 12, officials said. The drive will also help at-risk children and families experiencing hardship.

Those in the Bellaire, Meyerland and West University Place area looking to participate can bring backpacks and school supplies to Waxing The City, 5531 Weslayan St., Houston, during the hours of 11 a.m.-6 p.m. while the drive is underway from March 25-30.
