Safer Streets Initiative: Sunset, Fannin, Main streets

As part of the city’s Safer Streets Initiative, the intersections of Sunset Street with Fannin and Main streets have been identified for improvement. A joint project between the city of Houston and the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County will soon be underway to modify the intersection and rebuild traffic signals. METRO covered the design costs, and construction is being paid for by Houston’s Capital Improvement Program. The Safer Streets Initiative has been underway since 2017. Road safety audits conducted in 2018 identified priority projects throughout the city.
