Once a New York City food truck, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is coming to Rice Village as part of its national brick-and-mortar expansion.

Van Leeuwen will open at 2565 Amherst St., Houston, in spring 2021, according to a news release.

“We couldn’t be happier to be expanding to the Houston area. With its established ties, walkability, and bustling community, we knew Rice Village was perfect for our first venture into the Lone Star state,” CEO and co-founder Ben Van Leeuwen said in a release. “For over 12 years we’ve been committed to bringing our customers good ice cream that makes you feel good, and we can’t wait to serve Rice Village, come spring.”

The ice cream shop offers over 30 dairy-based as well as vegan-friendly ice creams, with flavors as Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Cookie Crumble Strawberry Jam. The Rice Village location will also have a new flavor inspired by Texas, according to the release.

Van Leeuwen ice creams are also available for nationwide shipping online and at H-E-B and Sprouts grocery stores around Houston. https://vanleeuwenicecream.com
