What happened

At a Feb. 27 Harris County Commissioners Court meeting, commissioners approved the donation of the three lactation stations that was valued at approximately $99,000.

Precinct 4 staff worked with the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Bar Foundation to coordinate the stations at the three county courts, according to a Precinct 4 court memo.

Diana Gomez is the president of the Houston Bar Association.

"By accepting these lactation pods, we're sending a message that Harris County is dedicated to access to justice, including nursing mothers who may serve as jurors, litigants and court staff, as well as female attorneys who practice at the highest level ... and belong in the courthouse," Gomez said.
