Leven Bakery & Cafe, a business dedicated to the health of its local community, will mark one year in the city of Southside Place in August.

The details

Franklin Liao, director of culinary operations for the gluten-free bakery, confirmed via email that the business will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Aug. 29.

Leven's dishes take inspiration from countries around the world, Owner Wen Qin said in an interview with Community Impact in March.

The cafe's menu is composed of pastries and bread made without wheat flour; breakfast items; a variety of sandwiches, salads and protein bowls; shareable plates that all incorporate vegetables; as well as a family-style rotisserie chicken dinner—served with a whole chicken, three vegetable sides and two slices of thick-cut garlic bread.

Quote of note

Qin told Community Impact his ultimate goal is to change the food industry by educating children about healthy eating—starting in his own neighborhood of Bellaire.

“I can only change things in my own neighborhood, in my own household and through what I do—which is food and beverage,” Qin said.
