Before NFL defensive tackle Michael Seth Brockers was drafted in 2012 by the St. Louis Rams and before he played college football for Louisiana State University, the Houston native attended high school at Cesar Chavez in southeast Houston.
Years later, the NFL free agent is officially opening his own restaurant, sports bar and cigar lounge roughly 13 miles away in the Third Ward, according to its Facebook page.
Located at 4608 Almeda Road, the grand opening weekend taking place July 20-23 will include an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, live performances, DJs and entertainment. The event page states that the entire weekend will include a full-service menu and a well-stocked bar to “keep the party going.”
Quad Houston’s food and drink menu features upscale Southern cuisine that give homage to famous celebrities and Houston culture such as the chopped and screwed salad, which is a shredded romaine mix—a reference to one of Houston’s hip-hop labels featuring DJ Screw who popularized the genre of slowing down music.
There’s also lobster tail nestled in edible 24-karat gold, jambalaya pasta, salmon sliders and the restaurant’s signature chicken wings and French toast. Dessert options listed on its website include Cognac Cobbler and a Black Mamba Chocolate Ganache—a reference to NBA star Kobe Bryant.
Signature cocktails at the lounge include Queen of the South, Sunset Breeze, one named Halle Berry and the “Wraith” that’s listed for $2,000.
The Den, located adjacent to the restaurant, is an upscale, membership-only, cigar lounge. With a yearly membership, guests will have access to a private smoking lounge and personal locker. Members will also have certain discounts to food, drinks and cigars, according to its website.
