An average of 2,305 new cases per day were reported across the Greater Houston area for the week of Feb. 7-13, according to the report, well below the average of 13,395 new cases per day reported in mid-January, between the dates of Jan. 10-16.

Similarly, the average number of COVID-19 patients admitted to Texas Medical Center facilities per day fell to 208 for the week of Feb. 7-13, less than half of the daily average of 418 between Jan. 10-16.

The lower drop in new patients per day has affected general and intensive care unit bed usage across the greater Houston area, according to the SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council. Roughly 18% of ICU beds were occupied with COVID-19 patients as of Feb. 14, according to SETRAC.

As of Feb. 12, a total of 2,693,110 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, according to the Texas Medical Center.
