The details
Learning Express Toys & Gifts sells educational items for every stage of child development from newborns to 11-year-olds and up. Toys include baby dolls, activity tables, coloring sets, sports games, scooters and more.
The Rice Village shop will be owned by Meg Sides, a Learning Express Toys franchisee who owns additional locations in Houston and North Carolina.
“We are beyond excited to bring Learning Express Toys to Rice Village and to continue the legacy of this location as a go-to destination for quality toys and gifts,” Sides said. “I am beyond excited to meet the children and families of this special community and provide fun prizes and experiences.”
Learning Express Toys will replace the former Fundamentally Toys space on Rice Boulevard and will also provide free gift wrapping and birthday registry.

The toy shop will celebrate its opening in Rice Village with a three-day grand opening celebration from March 28th through March 30th. The event will include activities such as fairy hair, permanent jewelery, balloon animals, raffles, giveaways and a meet-the-owner scavenger hunt with prizes.
On March 29th, the store will host a meet-and-greet with Bluey, a children's show that follows the adventures of a Blue Heeler puppy who lives with her mom, dad and sister, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A toy drive will also be ongoing during the three-day weekend that will benefit the Texas Children's Hospital.
