The 50,000-square-foot store will offer the selection of sports and outdoors products the chain is known for, including sports equipment, camping and water gear, outdoor furniture and clothing from brands such as Nike, Yeti, Adidas, Under Armour and Academy's private label brands. The store will also provide grill and bicycle assembly services, scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding, propane exchange, and the ability to purchase hunting and fishing licenses, according to a Nov. 1 press release.
Grand opening events will take place over the course of the Nov. 4-6 weekend, which will feature discounts, giveaways and an appearance by former softball professional Jennie Finch.
The new Meyerland store is opening amid an expansion push by Academy that involves opening nine new stores in 2022 and between 80-100 new stores over the next five years, according to the release.
