Miller Outdoor Theatre will end the month of August with an Aug. 27 performance by the Texas Medical Center Orchestra, but theatre officials have already released a list of performances in September ranging from African-inspired jazz to Mexican rock and folk.

All events at the theater, located at 6000 Hermann Park Drive, Houston, are free. Tickets for covered seating can be found here, and hillside seating is not ticketed.

The events listed below have been announced for September.
  • Sept. 2 at 8 p.m., Arooj Aftab: Asia Society Texas will present Brooklyn-based, Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Arooj Aftab in concert. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 3 at 8 p.m., Music Among Friends: Founded in 2000, the Mercury Chamber Orchestra will play classical favorites from Vivaldi, Elgar and Gershwin, among others. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 6 at 11 a.m., Knowledge is Key: Learn about the four elements of hip-hop with Young Audiences of Houston as they educate crowds on the artistic value of music.
  • Sept. 9 at 8 p.m., Fall ExtravaDance #YayDance: Move with the Houston Metropolitan Dance Center as they perform to an array of energetic music. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 10 at 8 p.m., Somi presented by DACAMERA: Get in the groove for this blend of American and African jazz music by Illinois-born vocalist Somi. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 15 at 8 p.m., El Grito featuring Son Rompe Pera: Join Son Rompe Pera and their blend of marimba and rock music to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 16 at 8 p.m., H-E-B presents “The Ultimate Donna Summer Tribute” starring Rainere Martin: Listen to Rainere Martin in her tribute to disco star Donna Summer, featuring hit songs "Bad Girls," Hot Stuff" and "Last Dance."
  • Sept. 17 at 8 p.m., The Houston Jazz Festival produced by The Houston Jazz Collective: Come see the American Masters Series presented by The Houston Jazz Collective, featuring The Cookers, Nellie McKay and artwork by Jack Whitten. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 21 at 11 a.m., Pan-African Passport: Young Audiences of Houston returns to Miller with a colorful drumming and dance routine featuring the Kucheza Ngoma Dance Company and Griot Manning Mpinduzi-Mott. The performance chronicles the influence of the African diaspora on dance in West Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas.
  • Sept. 23 at 8 p.m., Family: The 40-piece River Oaks Chamber Orchestra kicks of its 18th season with a performance led by Mei-Ann-Chen. The program is inspired by community, family and hope, featuring songs that honor Houston's cultural diversity. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 24 at 8 p.m., Bayou City Jazz Celebration: Jazz Houston brings a presentation featuring the Houston Jazz Orchestra, vocalist Belinda Munro and pianist Helen Sung. The performance will be streamed live here.
  • Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m., The Devon Allman Project: The six-piece band is led by Devon Allman and features two Allman Betts Band drummers. The group will play songs of the Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman. The performance will be streamed live here.
