Butler Road and Turner Street in League City will undergo $6.81 million in improvements starting in the summer.

The details

League City City Council unanimously voted to award two construction bids totaling $6.8 million for improvements to Butler Road and Turner Street at its March 25 meeting.

The contracts were approved with no discussion from council.

The project will replace 6,550 square yards of asphalt roadway with concrete pavement, install new water lines and sidewalks, and relocate utilities along the roadways.

The cost

The combined $6.81 million project can be broken down into two bids:
  • $6.1 million to League City-based Lucas Construction Company, Inc. for Phase 2 reconstruction of both roads
  • $612,000 to Lucas Construction Company, Inc. for a work change directive
  • $98,000 to Fort Worth-based UES Professional Solutions 44 for materials
The project is part of a series of street reconstructions totaling nearly $50 million for certain roads around town, according to city documents.

City estimates show around 30% of streets in League City are more than 30 years old.

Looking ahead

The projects will begin in the summer and are slated for completion in the fall 2026.
