The League City Police Department currently uses external training venues for tactics-based training.
However, City Council will soon vote on awarding contracts for preconstruction planning of the city’s own training facility for its police officers.
What residents should know
League City City Council will vote on whether to award a $240,000 contract to Fort Worth-based Quorum Architects for the facility’s design, bid and construction phase services at its Feb. 10 meeting.
The 24-hour access facility, which will be located at the existing public safety building, will provide a city-owned space for the department to conduct trainings, eliminating the need to use facilities in other cities that sometimes have limited availability or only operate during business hours, according to city documents.

Overall, the project is expected to cost $900,000 through the city’s capital improvement program for fiscal year 2025-26, according to city documents.

At the meeting, City Council will also consider selling a parcel of land to the Texas Department of Transportation for $3.7 million related to the construction of the Grand Parkway extension, also known as SH 99 Segment B1, according to city documents.
