Following the completion of Phase 2 of its ongoing multi-phase concessions improvement project, Hobby Airport announced March 17 the opening of several new dining options available to travelers.

In 2023, Houston City Council approved food and beverage contracts in Houston Airports with the goal to improve the airport dining experience, according to a March 17 news release.

The details

Pei Wei and Throughgood Bistro are the latest additions to Hobby’s lineup, according to the release. Chick-fil-A relocated to West Food Court from its previous spot to make room for Common Bond Cafe, which is expected to open in Phase 3.

Per the release, other restaurants open as part of Phase 2 include:
  • Starbucks at Gate 1
  • Starbucks in Ticketing Lobby
  • The Rustic

The expansion is part of a multi-phase effort to up the number of offerings available for passengers. Earlier additions in Phase 1 included The Spot, Velvet Taco, Fat Cat Creamery and Dunkin’ Donuts. Future openings will include Yard House, SpindleTap Brewery and Killen’s Barbecue, among others.

“Bringing new dining options to Hobby Airport is all about creating a wonderful experience for our travelers,” Francisco Cuellar, chief commercial development officer for Houston Airports, said in the release. “Introducing these new restaurants reflects our dedication to offering a variety of delicious and high-quality choices to enhance the passenger journey.”

Hobby Airport, rated North America’s only five star airport according to Skytrax World Airport Star Rating for 2022, continues to upgrade its concessions to provide travelers with more local and national dining choices, per the release.
