Kemah City Council will consider at its Dec. 4 meeting using $104,000 of its hotel occupancy tax, or HOT, funds to fund an art show set for early next year.

Other items at the meeting will include potential votes to approve new playground equipment at James Foster Park, according to agenda documents posted on the city’s website.

The art show at Kemah Boardwalk, titled “Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea," will feature over 100 sculptures made of marine debris, according to a presentation posted in the city’s agenda documents.

As part of that, the city will consider contributing $104,000 to the show, documents show.


In other purchases, the city will consider a nearly $60,000 purchase for playground equipment at James Foster Park, which will replace some of the current equipment already installed, documents show.

City staff is recommending City Council approve some of the playground equipment at its Dec. 4 meeting, but return later to get an updated quote on a shade structure, as the discount for the equipment expires at the end of the year, according to agenda documents.

Also on the agenda

City Council will also consider approving the meeting dates for 2025 and consider a replat of a section of land, according to city documents.
