Unofficial election votes for League City City Council’s vacant Position 4 seat show candidate Courtney Chadwell and Ange Mertens in the lead, with all three voting centers reporting.
However, for a candidate to be declared a winner, they must have 51% of the votes, according to city code. A runoff election has been tentatively scheduled for Feb. 17 between the two candidates, Sarah Greer Osborne, League City director of communications, said in a Jan. 14 email.
“I want to thank all my supporters who came out and voted on Saturday and in early voting,” Chadwell said. “Looking forward to...win this runoff and getting to work to represent their conservative values on the council.”
"I'm thrilled to still have the opportunity to try and prove to the community that I'm the best candidate to serve the citizens in League City," Mertens said.
