More than 650 gallons of water leaked into the library's first floor, forcing officials to close the library for repairs. The library will reopen sometime next week, though a day has not been determined, the release reads.
Despite the closing, library staff is still working. Employees are offering checkouts and fulfilling hold requests from the curb outside the library. Staff will continue to offer service 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 2-3, according to the release.
The flooding damaged the library's east side but did not affect shelves or books. Staff members have moved all the books and other materials from the first floor's east side to the children's area on the west side so workers can replace damaged carpet and drywall. Once complete, the books and materials will be moved back, the release reads.
The amount of damage has not yet been determined.
