The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and the League City Regional Chamber of Commerce are joining forces for the second year in a row to support Lemonade Day.

Launched in Houston in 2007, the nationwide program equips children from ages 5 to 18 with the resources to start their own lemonade stand. After identifying the program as a perfect fit, the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce purchased the license in 2012 to bring Lemonade Day to Galveston County.

The setup

Young entrepreneurs in the program will have the opportunity to learn about business planning, financial literacy and customer service, as well as receive a workbook, T-shirt and backpack to guide them through the process, according to a Jan. 14 news release from the two chambers.

“It’s not just about selling lemonade—it’s about teaching young entrepreneurs that with preparation, creativity and a strong work ethic, success is within reach,” said Gina Spagnola, president and CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and director of Lemonade Day Galveston County. “The League City Chamber and their Lemonade Day committee have hit the ground running to grow participation on the mainland.”
