Guardian Grounds Ranch, a nonprofit funded by private donors to serve veterans and first responders, will host its first mental health and wellness conference in Houston this fall.

The overview

The organization will host the first responder mental health and wellness conference in Houston with co-host Cypress Creek Fire Department on Oct. 7 and 9. The conference is dedicated to the “wellness and resiliency of public safety professionals,” according to a news release.

The conference is aimed at providing emotional and physical support and for the spiritual well-being of first responders, such as police and firefighters, according to the release.

About the program

Attendees can earn continuing education credits, or CEUs, such as 14 credit hours from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or 10 training hours of Texas Law Enforcement credits.

The goal of the conference as well as the program is to raise awareness of mental health struggles and work toward reducing the stigma associated with the stress and mental health issues experienced by first responders, according to the release.
