Black Cowboy Student Education Day
In honor of Black Cowboy Heritage Day, officials at the George Ranch development will host groups to tour the grounds and learn about the African American cowboys who worked the ranch in the 19th and 20th centuries. Attendees can expect horse and cattle demonstrations focused on the Black cowboy legacy, firsthand accounts from George Ranch cowboy Johnny Hudgins, a cattle roundup, and a Buffalo Soldier camp.

Asia Society Texas hosts a Year of the Dragon celebration featuring performances, a lion dance, arts and crafts, a dragon quest, and foods inspired by Lunar New Year traditions across Asia. Other activities include Chinese calligraphy, dragon puppet-making and a photo booth.

Join members of environmental group Houston Sierra Club at the Indian Grass Prairie Preserve field office for a day of service and nature. Attendees must bring a day pack with water, snacks, lunch, a camera, field guides and clothes for the weather. Each member of the group must also sign an agreement and liability waiver with the Sierra Club and complete a volunteer application form with the Coastal Prairie Conservancy.
