During a Clear Creek Cleanup event Feb. 11, almost 200 volunteers collected 15,246 pounds of trash.

The total is equivalent to more than 7 tons, according to a League City press release.

League City helped at the event by providing an excavator, four trash dumpsters, a police boat to ensure safety and portable restrooms, according to the release.

The event, held annually by the Clear Creek Environmental Foundation, celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. The foundation holds the event to preserve the local ecosystem's health and beautify the area, CCEF President Mike Stone previously told Community Impact.
