Early voting results for a number of Harris County elections began to roll in after 7 p.m. Nov. 5.
Among the races with contested seats this year were the Harris County tax assessor-collector; attorney; Department of Education trustee, Place 3; Precinct 4 constable; and Precinct 5 constable.
What you need to know
- In the race for Harris County tax assessor-collector, Democrat Annette Ramirez received 591,345 votes, taking an early lead, and Republican Steve Radack received 580,303 votes. Ramirez's experience includes 22 years as a property tax attorney and serving as assistant general counsel at Aldine ISD. Radack's experience includes serving as the former Precinct 3 Harris County commissioner as well as an elected constable in Precinct 5.
- Early voting showed incumbent Christian D. Menefee, a Democrat, received 583,559 votes, and Jacqueline Smith, the Republican challenger, received 577,776 votes in the race for Harris County attorney. Smith is challenging incumbent Menefee, who first won the seat in 2021.
- In the race for Place 3 on the county board of education, an at-large position, Democrat Richard Cantu, the incumbent, received 600,675 votes, and Republican challenger Danielle Dick received 558,006 votes.
- In the race for Precinct 4 constable, Republican incumbent Mark Herman took an early lead with 201,389 votes, while challenger Sam "Hutch" Hutchison, a Democrat, received 126,113 votes. Herman was first elected to the position in 2016.
- In the race for Precinct 5 constable, Republican Terry Allbritton received 172,198 votes, and Democrat Jerome Moore received 143,794 votes. Incumbent Ted Heap did not run for re-election.
