The Nassau Bay City Council Position 4 race will hold a runoff election June 18 after no candidate received a majority of the vote in the city’s May 7 election.

The candidates, entrepreneur James Abbey and former Council Member John P. Mahon, received the highest number of votes in the May election. A candidate must receive over 50% of the vote to declare victory and avoid a runoff election.

In the May election, Abbey gathered 45.6% of the total votes, while Mahon gathered 41.6%. The third candidate, Charles Pulliam, received 11.5% of the votes.

Early voting for the runoff will begin June 6 and end June 14 at Nassau Bay City Hall, 1800 Space Park, Ste. 200, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-7 p.m. on Sunday. Election day voting June 18 will also take place at Nassau Bay City Hall from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
