Incumbent Adrian Garcia has won his primary race for Harris County Precinct 2 commissioner, and two Republican candidates will face each other in a runoff election before the winner faces Garcia in November.
With 366 of 375 voting centers reporting, Garcia, a Democrat, has 20,807 votes, or 75.8% of votes cast so far. Challengers George Risner and Gary Harrison have 13.2% and 11% of the votes, respectively.
With 362 of 375 voting centers reporting, Morman, a Republican and former commissioner, has 12,358 votes, or 40.4% of votes cast so far. He will face Jerry Mouton, who has 6,802 votes, or 22% of votes, in a runoff election. Other candidates John Manlove, Richard Vega and Daniel N. Jason have 17.2%, 15.1% and 5.4% of the votes, respectively.
Garcia was elected in 2018, beating Morman in the general election.
In previous responses sent to Community Impact Newspaper, Garcia said his priorities if re-elected would be public safety, criminal justice reform, job creation, economic equality, health care access, flooding and more.
Morman said he is running again because he served two successful terms as commissioner and wants a conservative majority back on Commissioners Court. His priorities would be supporting law enforcement, tackling crime, cutting spending and restoring integrity in government.
