While nothing is set in stone, CCISD’s Director of Transportation Tammy Pickett reviewed the three campuses at the board of trustees' Nov. 10 workshop to potentially change bus services for the 2026-27 school year.
What you need to know
For Brookside Intermediate, students who live south of FM 528 and east of Bay Area Boulevard were provided with “adequate path and traffic controls” to safely walk to and from school, according to a presentation by the district.
However, after crossing guards were removed, the route was reclassified as hazardous. The change affects more than 30 students, who will continue to receive transportation services from CCISD.
Gilmore Elementary students who reside in the Enclave neighborhood are within two miles of the school. With just eight students receiving transportation in this area, the district will consider eliminating the route from bus services to ensure equity across the district.
For Gilmore Elementary students who live north of League City Parkway, a newly added walking bridge lowered the area’s hazardous score from 605 to 360—meaning the route is no longer considered hazardous.
While this will affect over 100 students, the district will also consider removing bus services for this area.
Also of note
Lastly, for Hall Elementary, students who live west of Bay Area Boulevard and east of Magnolia Creek may lose bus service, as the route is no longer classified as hazardous. The change could affect about 15 students.
What’s next
The full list of hazardous routes for CCISD will be presented for the board to consider at its November board meeting, Pickett said.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the district’s Education Support Center, located at 2425 E. Main St., League City.
