San Jacinto College has earned its spot in the top 10 emergency medical services, or EMS, education programs in Texas by the state’s Department of State Health Services, or DSHS, Office of EMS/Trauma Systems.

The overview

The college earned the recognition through its three-year average National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians pass rate, according to an Aug. 12 news release from the college.

San Jacinto College had a combined total of over 180 paramedic and EMT students with a 91% passage rate on the national certification exam, the news release notes.

The college’s EMS program offers career opportunities for students to become a paramedic, EMT, helicopter or fixed-wing air ambulance service provider, and a public agency employee, according to San Jacinto College’s website.
