Bus drivers at Clear Creek ISD received an increase in their starting pay of nearly $1.50 an hour, according to a Sept. 6 news release from the district.

The overview

The starting hourly pay for bus drivers at CCISD will now be $22, which was $20.56 before the district made the increase, according to the news release.

New bus drivers for CCISD who currently hold a commercial driver’s license, or CDL, are also eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus, the news release states.

Bus drivers without a CDL can apply for a paid bus driver in-training position, according to the news release.

What else?

CCISD also increased the minimum guaranteed work hours per day from 5.5 to 6.5 hours, according to the news release.

Bus drivers will also have more opportunities to earn extra hours through mid-day routes and field trips, the news release shows.

Quote of note

“Investing in our drivers’ pay is investing in the safety and reliability of our transportation services,” Tammy Pickett, CCISD’s assistant director of operations transportation, said in the news release. “This investment not only reflects our appreciation for their hard work but also ensures we attract and retain the best talent in the industry.”
