Up to seven Clear Creek ISD students will soon have a chance to participate in the College of the Mainland’s Collegiate High School, which allows high school students to earn a college degree at the same time as their diploma.

The overview

On Oct. 23, the CCISD board of trustees renewed a partnership with the college.

Through the Collegiate High School program, CCISD students can enroll as full-time college students at the College of the Mainland but still remain in their local high school, according to the district’s website.

The overall outcome can result in a student obtaining both a high school diploma and an associate degree, according to the district’s website.

The renewal approved by the board limits the number of students who can join the program to seven and will cost the district about $2,700 for each student, according to district documents.

Diving in deeper

According to the College of the Mainland website, the college offers the program to a number of districts. Along with CCISD, those include:
  • Dickinson ISD
  • Friendswood ISD
  • Hitchcock ISD
  • Odyssey Academy
  • Santa Fe ISD
  • Texas City ISD
  • Home-schooled and private-schooling students
The college waives 40% of tuition and fees for students, according to the college’s website.

What else?

The Collegiate High School set an enrollment record in the fall 2023 semester, with more than 300 students enrolled. It was a number that exceeded the fall 2021 and fall 2022 enrollment numbers by 30%, according to a September news release from the college.
