Two Clear Creek ISD teachers are in the running to be named as top educators in the region.

Lisa Prekosovich from Falcon Pass Elementary and Andrea Newby from Bayside Intermediate School were selected as the elementary and secondary finalists in Region 4’s Teachers of the Year program. Region 4 comprises nearly 50 public school districts and 40 open-enrollment charter schools in the seven-county Greater Houston area.

Prekosovich and Newby are among the top five nominees chosen in their respective categories for serving and modeling instructional excellence, according to a July media release from CCISD. The two regional winners will be announced Aug. 16.

“We are proud to have both of these exceptional educators represent Clear Creek ISD at the regional level,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Williams in the release. “They reflect the hard work and heart of all CCISD teachers, especially in this most challenging year.”

As a second-grade teacher, Prekosovich incorporates character education into her classroom by encouraging intentional discussions with her students and building awareness of the needs of others, per the release. She has been with CCISD for 24 years.

Newby, who has been with CCISD the past three years, is an advocate for immersive, hands-on learning experiences, per the release. She created a marine science elective for students in eighth grade.

CCISD is the only district in Region 4 to produce two finalists in 2021. The finalists, of which there are 10 total in the Teachers of the Year category, will move on to the Texas Teacher of the Year selection process, which is facilitated by the Texas Association of School Administrators, per the release.
