The gist
The park reopened Aug. 3 after closing due to damages caused by Hurricane Beryl, which hit the Houston area on July 8 and caused an estimated $32 billion in damages nationwide.
“There was quite [a bit of] ... downed trees and vegetative debris that needed to be picked up,” Communications Director Sarah Osborne said.
While the park and dog park are reopened, the trail segment behind the dog park that leads up to FM 518 is still closed indefinitely due to three large fallen trees that still need to be cleared, Osborne said.
One more thing
Members from Clear Creek Off Road Bicycling Association volunteered to clear a portion of the debris from the trails, according to an Aug. 4 social media post. Those volunteers will return again to clear the remainder of the debris.
