The background
Elizabeth Hewatt, owner of Changing Stories and a certified behavior analyst, first established the business in August 2022, she said. Originally, Changing Stories only offered in-home behavior therapy, communication support, skills assessments, and related services for children with autism.
"It worked well and some kids it really helped for, but some parents need that time to drop their kids off while they worked," Hewatt said.
Diving in deeper
The new Changing Stories clinical facility is 9,000 square feet, Hewatt said. It provides the business room to add more clients to the team's caseloads, she said, expanding their ability to do outreach.
Hewatt said the center will service preschool aged children up to adults who face behavioral challenges that may hinder their daily lives. At Changing Stories, therapist work to improve their client's skills and reduce behaviors that interfere with communication so their needs can be met.

Hewatt will celebrate the opening with a ribbon cutting on Jan. 15, hosted by League City Regional Chamber of Commerce, she said. Residents and clients will tour the new building during the event.
