CertaPro Painters of League City and Galveston celebrated 10 years of being in business Feb. 14, which is the anniversary of when they signed their original agreement, owner Scott Blair said.

The business, which began out of League City, also changed its name in December, adding on “Galveston” to its title, Blair said. The business opened up a second office in Galveston around three years ago.

After spending more than three decades in corporate America, Blair said he wanted to leave that side of things and start his own business.

“At one point, all I was doing was getting on a plane and going to someone else’s meeting,” he said.

After speaking with a business broker, he and his wife, Lisa, opted to open a franchise of CertaPro, which has over 350 locations across the U.S. and Canada, according to the company’s website.

In the years since, the business has retained both its first employee hired, as well as its first painter, Blair said. Other crews that started within his company have also gone off to grow and start their own businesses.

“I think that’s the most spectacular part of our story,” Blair said.
