Cy-Fair ISD approves 3% raises for FY 2023-24

Cy-Fair ISD is heading into fiscal year 2023-24 with less revenue available to cover more expenses compared to the previous year. The board unanimously approved a $1.21 billion budget about nine hours into its June 20 meeting.

Landmark revitalization of historic Imperial Sugar Company site on the horizon


The Imperial Sugar Factory may finally see new developments in the near future.

PUMA Development Co., in collaboration with the city of Sugar Land and Colliers Co., has announced a partnership for the redevelopment and leasing of the renowned Imperial Sugar Co. site.

Conroe ISD leaves fate of teacher pay raises in hands of state funding


Conroe ISD approved a resolution June 20 that would allow the district to retroactively pay teacher raises as the district is waiting for increased funding from the state.

In a June 6 board workshop, CISD trustees received a presentation on potential employee compensation packages. However, citing a lack of legislative funding, the board did not vote on a plan and moved discussion to the June 20 board meeting.

Harris County jurors will get pay boost starting September


Residents and registered voters serving jury duty from across Harris County will get a pay bump starting in September after the Texas Legislature approved the first pay increase in the state since 2005, according to Harris County officials.

San Jacinto River Authority appoints acting general manager

During a meeting June 22, the board of the San Jacinto River Authority appointed Ed Shackelford as the acting general manager. Shackelford currently serves as the SJRA’s director of operations, according to its website.
