Early voting for the Houston City Council District C special election begins March 18, with election day set for April 4. Here’s what voters need to know.
How we got here
Residents who live in District C, currently represented by council member Abbie Kamin, will have a new representative on council after the April 4 special election.
Kamin won the primary election for Harris County attorney in March, a seat that was up for grabs after former county attorney Christian Menefee stepped down to serve as congressman for Texas' 18th Congressional District.
The Houston City Council seat has seven candidates vying for it, with the elected candidate serving the district until January 2028. District C includes River Oaks, Montrose, The Heights, Washington Avenue, Rice Village and Meyerland.
