Challenger Sylvia Holmes unseated incumbent Susan Steeg on March 6 to win the Democratic primary for Justice of the Peace Precinct 3.

Holmes secured 59.90 percent of the vote to Steeg’s 40.01 percent, according to the Travis County Clerk’s website showing 84.38 percent of votes counted.

Holmes will face uncontested Republican challenger Martin Harry in the November election.

Steeg has presided over the Justice and Small Claims Courts of Precinct 3 since 2007, according to traviscountytx.gov.

The numbers remained unchanged as Sylvia Holmes led the Travis County justice of the peace Precinct 3 Democratic primary.

As of 7 p.m. March 6, Sylvia Holmes led the Travis County Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 Democratic primary against incumbent Susan Steeg.

Holmes had 59.9 percent of votes and Steeg had 40.10 percent.

Republican Martin Harry ran uncontested in his party. Harry and Holmes could race for the Precinct 3 seat in the November election.

Steeg has presided over the Justice and Small Claims Courts of Precinct 3 since 2007, according to traviscountytx.gov.
