Carroll ISD leaders have established a plan to streamline technology use in school and increase small group instruction for students, among other goals, in the current school year.
The CISD board of trustees approved the district's 2026-27 improvement plan and campus improvement plans at its Oct. 5 meeting.
The approved improvement plans are all shaped by the current strategic plan of the district. Next year, the district will be moving into a new strategic plan and this will affect the improvement plans, said Gina Peddy, executive director of curriculum and instruction.
The strategic plan that was adopted by the school board five years ago included technology as a goal and had objectives to modernize infrastructure and train teachers for purposeful instructional technology use.
The district is currently moving away from technology use in classrooms and limiting personal computers in schools.
What’s happening?
The district improvement plan will serve as a guide for achieving district goals, according to district documents.
One of the goals outlined in the plan is improving career and technical education programs for students with additional real-world problem-solving opportunities like internships.
Another goal is using multiple school data sources to determine which students need more personal and individualized instruction to ensure more students are meeting state standards.
The district also has a goal to develop recruitment strategies and professional growth plans for staff.
Campus improvement plans are similar to the district improvement plan but are created by campus principals and focus on objectives more closely related to individual campuses.

What they’re saying
Board Vice President Andrew Yeager thanked Peddy for helping guide the district’s move away from technology.
“This is something that's come from parents, but also we understand that this is the best way for our students to learn,” Yeager said. “And I just wanted to compliment you and your team because I feel like we didn't get pushback. In fact, we got an embracing of these concepts and it was very clear to everybody.”
