KFC’s “next-generation” Open House restaurant concept is now open in McKinney.
With the 3,400-square-foot modernized restaurant, KFC officials are looking to bring “the Kentucky Fried Comeback to life in one place,” a company news release states.
On the menu
The new concept serves the chain’s classic fried chicken offerings, but the menu also includes dipped and drizzled fried chicken options, pairing chicken dishes with a variety of sauces. The menu also offers new breakfast items as well as new side dishes such as fried green beans and spicy pickles, per the release.
As part of the company’s global beverage strategy, the McKinney restaurant offers “bold, flavor-forward drinks” such as lemonades, boba refreshers and Krunch shakes, the release states.
Diving in deeper
At the McKinney restaurant, which features seating for up to 52 guests, patrons can opt for table service, an addition meant to bring “a more personal, hospitality-first experience” to the restaurant, the release states.
The eatery also features dual drive-thru lanes, a dedicated mobile order pick-up lane and self-order kiosks. The McKinney location also includes a celebration booth with a photo booth experience as well as a swag bar with KFC-branded apparel and souvenirs.
Zooming out
The McKinney restaurant will serve as an opportunity for KFC officials to “learn what works and identify ideas” that could impact KFC’s restaurants nationwide, per the release.
"We're building on the craveable fried chicken and genuine hospitality people have always loved about KFC, while introducing new flavors, new experiences and more ways to enjoy the brand,” KFC U.S. President Catherine Tan-Gillespie said in the release. “It gives guests a reason to try us, or try us again, while giving us a real restaurant where we can learn what works for guests, our teams and the business, and scale the strongest ideas across the system."
Plano-based KFC Corporation operates over 3,500 KFC restaurants in the U.S. and more than 30,000 worldwide, the release states.
